A Thriving Boutique Fitness Studio with a Need for Powerful Software

Tyler Quinn and Christy Wright own Alchemy 365, a boutique fitness business with two thriving locations (LoHi and Tennyson) in the Denver, Colorado area, serving over 1,000 active members. The concept bridges the gap between yoga, strength, and cardiovascular training — with a “core purpose and soul mission” of helping people “feel alive.”

In a recent interview, Tyler and Christy explained that the studio differentiates itself through a specific “trifecta” of characteristics:

  • Challenging Workouts: Classes follow the philosophy that “strength is the foundation of fitness,” building muscle, boosting endurance, and improving conditioning without cardio machines.
  • Authentic Culture: Community is prioritized, with a goal of making members feel socially engaged and comfortable.
  • The “Feel Alive Factor”: The goal is to ensure members leave the studio feeling better than they arrived, every single time.

Alchemy 365 offers six 50-minute group formats, with memberships sold in tiers based on number of weekly visits. With a large and active member base to manage, Quinn and Wright needed a software platform that could keep up — one with relevant features, reliable data, and real support from people who actually understood their business. What they had wasn’t cutting it.

Switching From Mindbody Gym Management Software

Before switching to Wodify, Quinn and Wright used Mindbody, but were frustrated for several reasons.

At the top of the list was Mindbody’s support (or lack thereof). Quinn recalled, “One of the big pain points was when there were issues, it always felt like we were talking with people who didn’t really understand our business and therefore could not be proactive in helping us solve our problems. But after switching to Wodify, we feel like we’re working with a team who does understand our business, so we’re getting proactive support from people who seem to be looking out for the long-term wellbeing of our business.”

Next up, the Alchemy 365 staff was frustrated with the fact that Mindbody required them to use (and pay for) different platforms to accomplish different tasks. For example, there was one software for prospect management and another for mass communication.

Quinn said, “It all required its own software, so from an expense management standpoint, it felt inefficient because you had to sign up for a multitude of software providers to help you run your business.”

Lastly, data reliability was a red flag with Mindbody. Quinn simply described it as “a lack of confidence” in the data they were pulling from their software at the time.

Better Operations, More Growth with Wodify

“In retrospect, we were probably over-conservative and too anxious,” said Quinn, “because at the end of the day, it was pretty smooth. And I don’t think we had more than a handful of accounts that required manual attention post-migration.”
