The Challenge

Xtreme Couture MMA is a globally-recognized name in mixed martial arts. Founded by UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture, the gym was built as one of the earliest true MMA training facilities—bringing every discipline under one roof.

When Randy’s son, Ryan Couture, and his wife stepped in to take over ownership, they did so at one of the most challenging moments possible.

“We took over legal ownership at the height of COVID with the doors closed because we couldn’t legally operate.”

The transition wasn’t just about preserving a famous name—it was about building a sustainable business that could last beyond the legacy.

“The brand was built on Randy and his fight career, and it had all this power behind it… but that doesn’t carry a business. At some point, the legacy needs to be handed off to a longevity of business ownership.”

The Turning Point

With the gym closed and operations limited, Ryan had the time to step back and assess the business.

“In some ways, I think it was a blessing that there was so much less going on here because it gave me time to really dive into the systems and figure out what was working and what wasn’t,” he said.

Managing memberships, dues, and operations required a platform that could bring order to complexity.

“We had to figure out how to get some software and some tech that’s going to help us keep track of all of these members and keep track of what dues are owed, because that’s what’s paying our bills.”

After trying different solutions, Ryan discovered Wodify.

“The gym has grown so much that we’ve actually run out of parking,” Ryan said. “It’s a great problem to have.”

“That’s the number one thing that was missing before… this member-to-ownership-management kind of communication,” he explained.

“People will send us a message and say, ‘Hey, can you put my membership on hold?’ Emily and I often are the ones who are responding to them.”

That direct connection has strengthened relationships across the gym.
